God Provides: High-Quality Haitian-Made Shoes for Our Children
This year, we witnessed a powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness and provision for the children in our care in Haiti. As the school year approached, we were faced with the challenge of providing durable, high-quality shoes for our kids—a necessity for meeting uniform standards and ensuring they could focus on their education. Little did we know, God had a miraculous plan in store that would not only bless our children but also invest in the future of Haiti.
A Connection with Purpose
In preparation for the new school year, we discussed our Back-to-School needs with the team at Deux Mains, a Haitian social enterprise based in Port-au-Prince. Deux Mains is well-known for producing handmade, high-quality leather shoes in a 100% solar-powered factory. These shoes are crafted by a team of more than 40 Haitian artisans, each supporting 8-10 family members. By purchasing from Deux Mains, we knew we could provide our kids with shoes that would last and contribute to sustainable economic development in Haiti.
But there was one hurdle: cost. These shoes, while an incredible investment, were more expensive than the imported, lower-quality options found in the local market. Yet God had already begun making a way.
A Miraculous Provision
After sharing our needs with the leader of Deux Mains, she reached out to one of their partners. That partner committed to covering a substantial cost of each pair of shoes for our kids and covering the one-time cost of shoe sizing kits. This generous contribution made it possible for us to purchase these superior shoes at a cost comparable to lower-quality imports!
Not only did this ensure that our children received shoes that meet uniform standards and will endure, but it also reinforced the message that they are valued and deserving of the best. This provision was an incredible blessing and a clear example of how God provides for the fatherless.
Supporting Haiti Through Every Step
Purchasing shoes from Deux Mains goes beyond meeting our children’s needs. It’s an investment in Haiti’s future. Here’s how:
- Access to Education: Proper black, closed-toe shoes are required for school uniforms. Without them, many children are unable to attend school.

Their ability to ship shoes across Haiti during such turbulent times is another example of resilience and faith in action.
