“You are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O Lord, You know it all.” Psalm 139:3-4
Have you ever received a gift from someone months after you first expressed to them that you liked it? Those gifts are the sweetest! Not only are you surprised that someone remembered what you liked, but you’re also overwhelmed at the amount of attention they paid simply because they wanted to bless you! That’s a special friend!
Did you know God is a friend like that? He notices the most intimate details of our lives. I’m convinced that He knows us, He sees us, and is paying special attention! Allow me to share a miracle story that occurred during our latest trip to Haiti. It’s a perfect example of how close God really is!
Marjorie is a young lady (15 years old) who lives in the village of Myan, Haiti right outside of the Coreluv Children’s Village. Marjorie holds a special place in our hearts because she was one of the first children we ever met a year or so before Coreluv built an orphanage there.
Marjorie has no mom. She lives with her dad and sisters inside of a tiny mud hut. We gave Marjorie a part-time job at the Coreluv Children’s Village where she helps our house moms with tasks such as fixing hair, singing songs with the children, and being a great example. Marjorie has been able to pay for her education through this job.
On our most recent trip to Haiti, Marjorie pulled my husband aside and proceeded to thank him for providing for her to go to school these past several years. She also asked him to pray for her. She has the opportunity to take a computer class at school, but she doesn’t have a computer. My husband prayed and believed with her that God would provide this need of hers. To make a long story short, someone on the team who traveled to Haiti with us brought a laptop computer with the purpose of giving it to one of our staff members who may need it. Mike immediately let this person know what Marjorie asked him to pray about and they both knew it was God’s plan that she receive that computer.
The only thing the computer lacked was a computer bag. We thought we could just purchase one of those later for her. But God already had it covered! That same day, someone else on our team who knew NOTHING about the computer approached us and said they had brought a computer bag from home that they were going to leave in Haiti in case someone we knew needed it. Don’t you LOVE that God takes care of the tiniest details?!! You won’t believe what happened next!!
When my husband went to set up the computer, he had to select the French language. The first thing the computer asks you to do is to type in a username/password and AS CLEAR AS DAY it said, “For example: Marjorie.” By this time we were all IN AWE of how intimately precise our creator is with us, even knowing our names!
God knows you too! That intimately, that detailed, and He wants you to know that He is paying attention! Set a moment aside today to spend with God. Thank him for taking care of all the details in your life and just sit in awe of who He is!
This is Marjorie after receiving her computer. She was so very grateful!
Defending the Orphan goes beyond one day, one week, one month, even beyond one year. It is a daily call to care for and pray for the children we have been entrusted with. We could NOT do what we do without each and every one of our partners. It takes all of us together to make a difference in the lives of these children, daily providing their six basic needs of clean water, proper food, healthcare, education, job skills and a Christ-centered loving home. If you are not already an Orphan Care Partner, you can become one today. Visit our Orphan Care Partnership Page for more info. Thank you.
Defending the Orphan,
