Jamesly’s Journey: From Abandonment to Transformation
In Haiti, thousands of children face unimaginable challenges every day, including abandonment, malnutrition, and limited access to medical care. Jamesly’s story is a powerful testament to what’s possible when we answer God’s call to Defend the Orphan.
A Rough Start to Life
Jamesly came to Coreluv when he was just over a year old. Abandoned at the hospital by his parents, he suffered from hydrocephalus—a condition causing a buildup of fluid in the brain. It’s difficult to imagine the pain that led to his parent’s decision. Perhaps, like Moses’ mother placing him in the Nile, they saw this as his only hope for survival.
Shortly after joining the Coreluv family, Jamesly underwent life-saving surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain. But surgery was just the beginning of his journey. Surrounded by the LUV of Jesus and the care of Coreluv’s mamas, Jamesly began to heal and thrive in ways no one thought possible.
A Testament to the LUV of Jesus
Today, Jamesly is 9 years old and full of life. He continues to grow stronger and learn new skills. Within the past two years, he achieved a significant milestone—feeding himself for the first time. Can you imagine the joy and triumph of those first independent bites?
Jamesly’s favorite word is “vini,” Haitian Creole for “come here.” He shouts it with excitement to his brothers and sisters, filling his home with laughter and connection. His songs, sung with pure joy, echo resilience and hope.
One of Jamesly’s strongest bonds is with Mama Betty, his loving nanny. She’s been by his side every step of the way, celebrating each of his milestones and ensuring he feels loved, valued, and cared for.
