In 2015, the directors of Emmanuel’s House of Hope (Coreluv’s partnering orphanage in Gonaives, Haiti) learned a of 3 year old girl named Jinaïka who was in desperate need of a loving home.
Jinaïka was a restavek, a child entrapped in slave labor and her most basic needs like clean water and proper food were not being taken care of. This situation caused her to be very vulnerable to disease, abuse, and malnourishment.
There was no question that this was a desperate situation in which Jinaika needed to come to Emmanuel’s House of Hope where she could be loved and cared for as every child should be.
When she first came to the orphanage, she was very sick with a fever. Pastor Jean and his wife (Directors of Emmanuel’s House of Hope) were able to send her to a hospital to provide her with proper medical care. Today, Jinaika loves to listen to music and keeps asking for a piano. She may be a future musician! Thank you for helping to provide for her six basics needs through your partnership with Emmanuel’s House of Hope!
Defending the Orphan goes beyond one day, one week, one month, even beyond one year. It is a daily call to care for and pray for these children. We could NOT do what we do without each and every one of our partners. It takes all of us together to make a difference in the lives of these children, daily providing their six basic needs of clean water, proper food, healthcare, education, job skills and a Christ-centered loving home. If you are not already an Orphan Care Partner, you can become one today on our Orphan Care Partnership Program page. Thank you.
